If convicted, they each face up to two years in prison for the possessing marijuana on school property charge. The other charges are misdemeanors.

Stange and Carroll were smoking marijuana inside Carroll's car at a plaza near the corner of 9 Mile Road and Ryan Road within 1,000 feet of Fitzgerald High School in Warren, according to prosecutors.

After they were done smoking, the women left in different vehicles and were quickly pulled over for a traffic stop by officers, according to prosecutors.

Police said both women were under the influence when officers stopped them. Additionally, Stange had a weapon in her vehicle, according to prosecutors.

The school district said it is in the process of naming an interim superintendent and food services director.

The district Stange leads includes Mound Park Elementary, Schofield Elementary, Westview Elementary, PD Chatterton Middle School and Fitzgerald Senior High School.

"This is deeply concerning and violates the trust our community places in these school administrators," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. "Driving under the influence and possessing drugs near school grounds is not only unlawful but also puts the safety of our children at risk. As individuals entrusted with the well-being of Macomb County's children, we will take all necessary legal steps to ensure accountability."
