Ohio Fishermen Rescued From Lake St. Clair
A boat with three men from Ohio capsized in Lake St. Clair Thursday.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — Three Ohio men escaped injury Thursday when their boat capsized in Lake St. Clair shortly after noon. According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Marine Division, the Ohio men’s boat ran out of gas, began drifting and then took on water and capsized.
A second boat of Ohio fishermen was nearby at the time of the incident and were able to rescue the men, who authorities described only as being 31, 32 and 53 years of age. The capsized boat was due east of Jefferson Avenue near Cottrell Road.
Sheriff’s deputies said the Ohio men traveled to Michigan to fish Thursday. Despite water temperatures in the 50’s, the three men that went into Lake St. Clair were uninjured. Deputies noted that that they were not wearing life jackets, though there were some aboard the 20-foot Stratos boat, which was later towed to a nearby marina.

The three men clung to their boat until they were rescued. Macomb County emergency crews were on-scene when the men arrived at shore.
