Police Investigate a Father Arrested While Shoplifting with his Infant Son, Craigslist Sale Gone Bad

Fake currency used in Craigslist sale

A St. Clair Shores man reported Sept. 23 that a person who purchased an iPhone that he listed on Craigslist paid for it with counterfeit currency. The man listed the phone for sale onΒ Craigslist for $500Β and arranged a meeting with a buyer at a gas station at 10 Mile and Little Mack. AΒ gold Dodge Stratus arrived with a large female driver, and large male passenger. The suspect, a male in his 30s, with a thin build,Β 5-feet 7 inches tall with shoulder length braids, handed over an envelope with $500. According to the report, the victim had a bad feeling because the suspect was hurried. He approached the car and told the suspect he wanted the phone back, and and the car fled. A test determined the money was counterfeit.Β Β

A 30-year-old Harrison Township man was arrested on retail fraud charges Sept. 23 after he reportedly tried to steal items from Kmart with his infant child in the cart. According to a report, security saw the man pushing a cart through the store with his 2-year-old child. The man wasΒ selecting energy drinks and placing the itemsΒ into a cart next to a large handbag, and then walked into the toy aisle, and picked up a Spiderman action figure. He then placed the items into the bag, and covered it with a blanket. He was stopped as he tried to leave the store without paying. As he was walking back to the security office, he grabbed his son and started to run through the store. Police arrested the man, and his son was turned over to his mother. Β

A 29-year-old Fraser man was arrested Sept. 21 after he reportedly attempted to steal baby formula from the Kroger on Harper. Store security reportedly saw him select two cans of baby formula, and put them down the front of his pants. He attempted to walk out of the store before he was stopped, and arrested on retail fraud charges.
