St. Clair Shores Man Shot In Back

A 21-year-old St. Clair Shores man was shot in the back early Thursday morning.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — A 21-year-old St. Clair Shores man was shot early Thursday morning in his Euclid Street home by an intruder, according to multiple media reports. While an exact motive for the shooting hasn’t been determined, St. Clair Shores Police Chief Todd Woodcox said his department is investigating the incident as a home invasion.

Woodcox told the St. Clair Shores Sentinel that the victim was shot in the back with a shotgun. He was taken to an area hospital, underwent one surgery and is expected to have another Thursday. Woodcox didn’t reveal the extent of the 21-year-old’s injuries, but said he is expected to survive.

“He was conscious and alert when officers responded,” Woodcox told the Sentinel. “In fact, he was the one who called 911.”

Euclid Street sits north of 13 Mile Road and west of Jefferson Avenue in St. Clair Shores. Woodcox told the Sentinel nobody else was at home during the shooting. The victim lives in a multiple unit building and that residents were present in other units, he said No other injuries were reported.
