Plane Crashes Near King and West Jefferson

Pilot made an emergency landing in field shortly before noon Saturday.

The pilot of a small Cessna airplane made an emergency crash landing in a field near King and West Jefferson at about 11:50 a.m. Saturday.

According to Deputy Police Chief James Nardone, the aircraft lost power and went down in the field.

The pilot was not injured and was the only person in the aircraft at the time of the crash, Nardone said.

“He’s a little shook up, but he’s fine,” Nardone said.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are currently investigating the incident to determine exactly what went wrong.

The FAA was already at the scene of the crash at about 3 p.m. Saturday.

The pilot was flying a large banner advertisement at the time of the crash.

Police have not released the name of the pilot.
