Construction on District Buildings and Grounds is All But Complete

The bond-approved building improvements are only a week away from completion.

Most of the bond-approved building improvements slated to be completed before the first day of school were on time, according to a representative of a construction company that worked on the projects.

Steve Banchero, senior project manager at McCarthy and Smith Construction informed members of the completed projects and the projects awaiting completion at .

Several projects were being worked on over the summer in an effort to complete them before the start of the 2011-12 school year.

The completed projects are:

  • A new water main at .
  • New tennis courts and surrounding fencing at the high school.
  • A boiler at the high school was re-tubed.
  • The pool boiler was replaced at .
  • A rooftop mechanical unit was renovated at the middle school.

  • Lighting to illuminate the name of the school on the side of and elementary schools has not been installed. The lights were not available before the start of school. However, the contractor has received the lights and  will install them this week.
  • A piece of trim is missing on the top of a canopy at Hedke. Installation of a new piece of trim will take place this week.

A total budget was unavailable at the time of the meeting. Banchero said a total budget of the bond-approved projects would be available in October.
