You never know what high school hockey sensation will become the next NHL superstar and the shark tank at the Detroit Boat Show is a real crowd-pleaser.

• THE MICHIGAN HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY SHOWCASE
Where/When: ; begins Feb. 10 and goes through Feb. 12. Games begin Thursday at 6 p.m., Friday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Why Go: Get a chance to see the future hockey sensations of Michigan.
Price: Tickets for the showcase are $6 per day or $10 for a weekend pass; seniors and students, $4 per day or $6 for a weekend pass. Active duty military personnel and their families will receive free admission with a uniform or military ID. Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event.

Why Go: Show your school spirit and support your Trojans.
Price: A few dollars.

Where/When: Starts Thursday at 6 p.m. at Trenton High School.
Why Go: See these girls show their skill by flying through the air and performing gymnastics on the ground.
Price: A few dollars.
Where/When: Feb. 12 through 20. Saturday, Monday and Friday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday to Thursday 3 to 9 p.m. at the Cobo Conference and Exhibition Center in Detroit.
Why Go: Fun event with plenty of activities for the kids.
Price: $12, children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult.
Where/When: Sunday at 4 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Why Go: The critically acclaimed band is Michigan's first competitive British-style brass band. The Detroit Free Press called them "a high-energy band streaked by a good-time vibe and musicianship sharp enough to cover a charmingly eclectic repertoire.”
