Man, 23, Fatally Stabbed Inside Metro Detroit Kroger Store: Police
Police believe the suspect is a Kroger employee.
SOUTHGATE, MI — A 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed inside a metro Detroit Kroger store Tuesday, according to police.
The stabbing happened at 3 p.m. inside the Kroger store at 16705 Fort Street in Southgate, according to police.
When officers arrived, police said they found the 23-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, according to police.

Police said officers arrested the suspected attacker at the store. Investigators believe the suspect is a Kroger employee.
Investigators were still working to determine a motive, but said the two knew each other. They do believe the attack was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public.

Police did not immediately identify the victim or the suspect.
One customer told WXYZ they saw the victim lose consciousness at the scene.
"You could just see there was blood all over the floor. People were screaming and yelling," the customer told the news station. "There was definitely a big pool of blood where it happened. I definitely saw that and everyone around me was just in shock and crying. It was just awful — really, really awful."
Kroger said it was working closely with authorities as they investigate the death.
"We are deeply saddened by the incident," the store said in a statement. "The safety of our customers and associates remains our highest priority."
