Police Blotter: Identity Theft Nearly Leads to Auto Purchase in Georgia

A 60-year-old Trenton man reported to police at about 11 p.m. on Aug 16 that someone was trying to purchase a car in his name in Georgia.
The man, who lives in the 2800 block of Birchwood Street, said someone had stolen his identity and then attempted to purchase a car from a dealership in Georgia.
He said he received a call from a salesman at the dealership informing him someone was trying to purchase a car in his name.

The salesman contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the man was instructed to check his credit report, contact the social security office and make a report with the Trenton Police Department.
