Police: Man Allegedly Assaulted at Cheeks Bar

were called to Oakwood Southshore Medical Center to take an assault report from a 44-year-old man who was allegedly injured in the face in the parking lot of at about 4:15 a.m. Oct. 9.

The man’s fiancee told police she was standing outside near the back of the bar at around 2 a.m. when a friend advised her that the man was lying on the ground unconscious in the parking lot in front of the bar.

She said her fiance had been struck on the right side of his face and was bleeding and she drove him to his home, but later took the man to Southshore after she “saw the injury to his face was serious," according to a police report.

She told police she did not know what happened to the man or how he received his injuries.

Police questioned the man after he received 17 stitches above his right eye, and the man said he didn’t know what had happened either.

He told police “the last thing he remembers is sitting at the bar talking to his friend,” according to the same report. He added he did not remember arguing with anyone at the bar and does not know who caused the injuries or how they occurred.

A doctor at Southshore told police the man might have numerous facial fractures as a result of the injury above his eye.
