Police Thwart a Possible Suicide Attempt
The Trenton Police Department might have saved a man's life Sunday by responding to a call about a potential suicide.

Police responded to a call about a suicidal 49-year-old man at about 5:40 p.m. Feb. 6 in the 3000 block of Fort Street.
According to police the man had told several family members on the telephone that he was going to kill himself with his gun.
When police arrived at the man’s residence they could hear him talking to someone on the telephone. According to a police report the man said, “This will probably be the last time we talk, I’m giving up.”

Police asked the man if they could come in and talk and eventually the man told police he would not kill himself, and agreed to go to Oakwood Southshore Medical Center. Police transported the man to Southshore for treatment.
After the man was transported to Southshore, police said they confiscated four rifles that were in the man’s bedroom closet for “safekeeping.”

The initial call had come from the man’s mother.
