Shakespeare Touring Company to Visit Trenton Students
The Michigan Shakespeare Festival brings the experience, passion and drama of live Shakespeare performances to high schools across the state, according to the touring company's website.
The Capulets and the Montagues are set to carry on their tradition of severe dislike for one another on the auditorium stage at Trenton High School.
About 300 high school students are brushing up on their old English to prepare themselves for The Michigan Shakespeare Festival Touring Company's rendition of William Shakespeare's, "Romeo and Juliet," according to a high school release.
The touring company will hit the stage for ninth graders and theater arts and public speaking students at 12:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18.

"This is an excellent way to bring the curriculum to life for the students," said Joe Petrena, a teacher at Trenton High School.
After the show, students will have a chance to ask the performers questions.

Students have read "Romeo and Juliet," performed theatrical pieces and spoke publicly to prepare for the event.
"This exclusive event will put the skills learned in a professional context," said Michelle Gray, a teacher at the high school.
