Stuff You Need to Know: Aug. 26

Here are a few things to help you get your day started right.

Good morning Trenton. Here's a rundown of what you need to know today.

  1. Be careful on your morning commute. The National Weather Service is calling for fog before 8 a.m. The rest of the day is said to be sunny with a high near 78 degrees. Perfect football weather.
  2. In recognition of Trenton's rich hockey traditions, we bring you the Hockey Term of the Day: fighting, a major penalty which occurs when two or more players drop their sticks and gloves and fight; if a referee deems one player to be the instigator, that player also receives a minor penalty and a misconduct penalty; the minor penalty for a less severe pushing and shoving match is called roughing.Terms brought to you by www.firstbasesports.com.
  3. Today marks the official start of the varsity football season with the opener against Taylor Truman. The Trojans take on the Cougars at 7 p.m. at Truman High School, 11211 Beech Daly Road, in Taylor.
  4. Trenton High School students got their wish. Foreign language classes, including French and German 3 and 4, have been reinstated.
  5. Are you going to the football game tonight? We are. Look for game coverage including a video of the game's highlights on Trenton Patch.
