Teen Injured, Horse Killed In Metro Detroit Hit-And-Run: Sheriff

Officials said the crash happened Tuesday night on Telegraph Road​ in Monroe County.

ASH TOWNSHIP, MI — A teenager was injured and a horse was killed in a Tuesday night hit-and-run crash in Monroe County, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said an 18-year-old was riding a horse northbound on Telegraph Road near Interstate 275 at 11:30 p.m. when they were hit by a white Toyota.

The teen, who was only identified as being from Monroe County, was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The horse was killed in the crash, officials said.

Police are searching for the driver of the white Toyota. Investigators do not know the Toyota's model, but believe the car has damage to the passenger front and side.

The Toyota's right side view mirror was left at the scene, officials said.
