Trenton & Downriver Soroptimists Host 2nd Annual Golf Outing
Another Successful 'Save the Girls" Charity Fundraiser
Trenton and Downriver Area Soroptimists hosted their very successful second golf-outing fundraiser on June 15, 2024, at Wesburn Golf & Country Club, 5617 S. Huron River, in South Rockwood. The perfect weather pleased the one hundred fifteen people who were in attendance. One hundred four were golfers who participated in the four-person shotgun scramble. Tee-time started at 2:00 P.M. The cost was $100 per person, which included the greens fee, caterer Los Charros Taqueria, and door prizes. A variety of raffles: gift baskets, 50/50 raffles, a $500 Carl’s Golfland gift card, and prizes were also a part of the event. A special raffle to win a Caribbean Cruise for two and VIP tickets for Detroit’s Summer Cruise series were also offered.
The Soroptimists raised over $15,000, with the proceeds going to help fund the Soroptimist educational scholarship programs to Downriver women, as well as funds for the various service projects that help support women and girls in a variety of ways that include human trafficking awareness, education, healthcare, and domestic violence. Fallon Belisle, the golf outing chairperson, and a multitude of Soroptimist members made this year’s event more outstanding than last year.
Soroptimists would like to thank the many hole sponsors whose signs were displayed: The Willow Tree; GPS Financial; Chelsea Menswear and Tuxedos; White Furniture; Donovan Plastering; The Vault on First; Glowfish; Iron Bandogs LE/MC; Nanna’s Kitchen; The Phillip Charles Group; Tittle Brothers Construction; Kallas Restaurant Accounting, Vamp Inc.; Grand Dad’s Bar; Love Wyandotte-Independent Business Alliance; Kearney Financial Services LLC; Community Choice Credit Union; Flowers by the Freesia Collective; Bierkeller Tavern and Eatery; Taylor Chevrolet; Puppy Poo Patrol; Christoff’s Restaurant, SWCRC Networking Group; Reputation First Title Agency; Morello Law Group; Target Metal Blanking; Vamp Company; McNally Aesthetics; Belisle Construction; Motif Jewelers; and in Memory of Jeffery Seal; Matt Speedie, Pauline Donovan, Richard Fickeisen, Barbara Pilon, Emil & Pearl Crisi, Mary Batcheller, Robert “Smokey” Belisle, RCF, and WAT.
