UPDATED: Trenton Man Among Those Killed in Afghanistan Plane Crash

A Trenton man was among seven people killed in a cargo plane crash in Afghanistan on Monday, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.

Brad Hasler, a 34-year-old pilot, and six other civilians died after their Boeing 747-400 crashed just after takeoff from Bagram Air Base, according to CNN.

“I just can’t believe this happened,” Hasler’s friend, Krista Oetjens told the Free Press. “I’m in shock.”

Longtime friend and former classmate Justin Lanagan, 34, of Southgate, said Hasler was a stand up guy that everybody liked to be around.

"Everybody liked hanging out with him," Lanagan said.

Six of the seven people who died in the crash were from Michigan. The plane’s company, National Airlines, had been based in Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti before moving to Orlando.

NATO has denied claims by the Taliban that it had shot down the plane, according to CNN.
