Trojans Fall to Marauders in 'Heart Breaker'

The Trenton High School boys basketball team lost to the Gibraltar Carlson Marauders 49-48 in the district championship.

A ended Friday for the boys basketball team in a 49-48 loss to Gibraltar Carlson High School for the district championship.

Head coach Rick Morrow said the boys, "fought right to the end."

Morrow said the teams traded baskets the entire game, and it came down to just one point.Β

"I had said it was going to be a and it was," Morrow said.

Chad Hamilton led the Trojans in scoring against Carlson with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Pat Hebda had 13 points.

The Marauders scored the winning basket with about 17 seconds left on the clock, but the Trojans were unable to regain the lead. Morrow called the loss a "heart breaker."

"Carlson played well and I give them credit and wish them well," Morrow said. "My team is the team any coach would be proud to have."

Morrow spoke about his team and their efforts both on and off the court.

"Besides our obvious accomplishments, they haveΒ shown maturity, dedication and commitment to everything weΒ have tackled this year," Morrow said. "They have worked to help a needy family inΒ Trenton, gave a and found time to carry a 3.48 overall grade point average. One thing people don't realize, I coach kids from Trenton. I wouldn't have it any other way."
