Trenton Students' Idea for NYC Trip Becomes a Reality

In New York, concrete jungle where Trenton students' dreams were made, oh.

There's little they didn't do.

They were in New York.

If you now have Jay-Z's, "Empire State of Mind" stuck in your head, you can thank seniors Kelly Quinn and Megan Solano.

Quinn and Solano conceived the idea of a trip to New York, NY for 28 marketing students and several chaperones in March and the class made the dream a reality on April 26.

The group took buses to the greatest city in the world to see the sights and hob knob with a former Trenton High School marketing student, Angela Antonio, who now lives and works in New York.

Students visited the 9/11 Memorial, the Ellis Island Family Center, the American Museum of Finance, Times Square, Chinatown, Central Park and the Empire State Building over the three-day trip.

Some students took etchings of family members who were killed in the tragic events at the memorial, and other students traced their roots at the Ellis Island Family Center.

While in Times Square, students were greeted by Occupy Wall Street protesters according to Trenton High School business teacher Chris Crews.

"Students and chaperones would once again like to thank the TPS (Trenton Public Schools) administration and school board for their support of this once in a lifetime travel opportunity," Crews said.

Trenton High School Principal Michael Doyle said the trip was a major success.
