5 Things to Do Around Troy This Weekend

There's plenty to do this weekend for those who need to get out and have some fun.

Looking for something to do this weekend in Clawson or the surrounding area? Here are some ideas. Click on the links for more information about each event.

1. See some classic cars at the Down on Main Car Show, which returns to Clawson for its 15th annual celebration on Saturday. Proceeds from the show will go to Leader Dogs for the Blind, Michigan Eye Bank, the Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Taylor and other sight and hearing related organizations.

2. Support local kids and enjoy a yummy Blizzard treat from Dairy Queen. A portion of the proceeds from each Blizzard sold on Thursday will be donated to benefit Beaumont Children's Hospital. The Dairy Queens located nearest Clawson are at 3201 Rochester Road in Royal Oak and inside of Oakland Mall in Troy.

3. Take in some jazz at the Maple Theater Cafe in Bloomfield Hills on Thursday night, as the Dave Lundin-Keith Malinowski Duo plays "Real Jazz for Real Jazz Lovers," featuring the works of the likes of Miles, Coltrane and Monk. Jazz is free with drinks, goodies and film available.

4. Snack healthier at the Royal Oak Farmers' Market on Thursday and at the Corn Fest on Saturday, where Raw Foodie brand superfoods will be at the Motor City Pizza Fest offering super nutritious, enzyme-rich superfoods.

5. Enjoy ice cream sundaes and family fun activities courtesy of the Troy Nature Society on Sunday. There will be all kinds of family activities and guided trail walks. There is no charge to attend, however, pre-registration is requested by Aug. 9. To register or for more information visit troynaturesociety.org or call (248) 688-9703. Donations accepted.
