Boys & Girls Club of Troy Bids Farewell to Retiring Executive Director

After 16 years at the , Executive Director Steve Toth is saying goodbye.

The former Colerain Elementary School at John R and Long Lake Roads served as Club headquarters when Toth started as executive director in 1996.  Thanks to his strong leadership, the Boys & Girls Club is in great shape with a beautiful facility completely paid for, a strong fund balance and dedicated board members.

“When Steve came to the B&GCT, the Club was close to closing and finances were in the red,” Immediate Past President Cindy Stewart said. “Steve deserves much of the credit for turning it around to make it one of the most successful clubs in the area.”

Long-time Board member and former Club president and treasurer Frank Kotcher agrees. “Steve’s been able to lead us into a position of financial stability. He led us out of a rundown school building into a beautiful new facility by leading and participating in the capital campaign and keeping everybody on track,” Kotcher says.

On average, 125 children attend after-school programs at the Club each day and 250 boys and girls attend daily during the summer.

“A third of the Club’s kids are from single-parent homes; so, for a lot of them, this is their second home,” Toth said. “It is so gratifying to see the kids from many diverse backgrounds learning to embrace each other’s differences and grow together as responsible young people.”

“Steve is a big part of the Boys & Girls Club of Troy and will be missed,” newly elected Board President Donna Barlow said.  “He had a supportive Board, but he was the one who got this Club organized.  Steve had the long-range vision, the passion and the concern for the importance of our community’s Club.   We will not forget all that Steve has done for the children.”
