International speaker Pam Stenzel, who is known for her candid talks on teenagers and sex – and whose "" talk at Rochester High School in May drew standing-room-only crowds – returns to Oakland County to give two humorous but important presentations Sunday evening at in Troy.
At 5 p.m., parents and their daughters ages 11 and up are invited to "Take a Look in the Mirror." Stenzel's message encourages girls to make sure their “look” demands respect and is not distorted by styles of today. She helps girls look beyond physical beauty and discusses attitude, dress and mannerisms that will be consistent with the outward impression girls really want to give others. Crucial topics such as eating disorders, clothing styles and appearance are reviewed.
At 6:30 p.m., Stenzel will give her "Sex Still has a Price Tag" talk for anyone in eighth grade and up. Today’s teenagers are facing the consequences of sexually transmitted diseases that teens from previous generations couldn’t even imagine, and Stenzel's straight talk empowers youth with the truth about sex and its consequences and encourages them to make healthy, responsible decisions.
