For more than 40 years, the has recognized the outstanding physical investments made by businesses in the city. The 2011 Best of Troy honorees were announced at its annual Holiday Luncheon last week. This year’s awards are sponsored by CORE Partners and .
"The Best of Troy awards recognize completed projects that best exemplify financial investment and aesthetic enhancement within the city of Troy," 2011 Best of Troy Chair Tom Snyder of The Hayman Company said. "We all know how vital these investments are to the continuing prosperity of our city."

- The Clawson-Troy Elks Lodge #2169, formerly located on Big Beaver Road, moved to a light industrial building on Elliott Avenue and Minnesota. They removed five storage rooms to create a small banquet hall for catering around 120 people and a small kitchen for the members and for short order lunches. In addition, this very attractive members’ lounge will handle around 100 people for networking, playing pool or having a drink.
- Part museum. Part retail shop. All Detroit. The Detroit Shoppe at the Somerset Collection is filled with all things Detroit—nostalgic items representing the people, places and products of the Motor City. Merchandise includes everything from Motown music to Faygo pop and Vernors. All the proceeds from sales go to local non-profits and charities. While exploring the store you can take a walk down memory lane. The shop also showcases Detroit as a good experience and a good place to live.
- Dickinson Wright’s project team designed and built out approximately 70,000 square feet of office and conference center space located on the 3rd floor of the Bank of America building. The firm moved 150 attorneys and support staff into Troy. The design takes advantage of the windows along the perimeter for individual attorney offices and corner common gathering areas. There are several open libraries throughout the office. The space also includes several litigation “war rooms.” There is a central lounge area for attorneys and staff gatherings.
- OUR Credit Union’s new location on Rochester Road provides the opportunity to meet new neighbors and set down a footprint in Troy. Rotating the building allowed for a more dramatic and prominent entrance. The lobby has an open feel with warm wood tones and a lot of natural light. OUR Credit Union integrated the beauty of the area landscaping in the design of the 3,000 square foot new construction.
- Moving from the east side, Spa Renaissance built a contemporary wellness center in Troy. Green initiatives were incorporated into the project with geo-thermal heating and cooling, censored lighting, and eco-friendly botanical products. To reduce stress, Spa Renaissance offers many services under one roof which saves time, energy and fuel. Check out the nutritional counseling, massage therapy, reflexology, lymphatic drainage, skin, hair, and nail therapies.
- This year, the invested $1.2 million to launch its new lobby and lounge. The large open space is filled with sleek contemporary furnishings and serves as a multi-task area for social interaction, relaxation and guest check-in. The reinvented lobby’s functional seating, state-of-the-art technology, free wireless Internet, 42” flat screen TVs, and innovative food and beverage concepts are all designed to meet the needs of today’s traveler. The renovations also include conference rooms and the grand ballroom.
