Popular Restaurant Chain Abruptly Closes MI Location: Reports

A struggling restaurant chain abruptly closed its Oakland County location this week, according to reports.

TROY, MI — A struggling restaurant chain abruptly closed its Oakland County location Thursday, leaving just one Michigan location remaining, according to reports.

Bahama Breeze closed 15 restaurants, including its Troy location, after sales fell 7 percent over the past year, according to a CNN Business report.

Darden Restaurants, which owns the chain, spokesperson Kiara Buckner told USA TODAY the closures will allow the group to focus on better-performing restaurants.

"Closing a restaurant is a difficult choice because it impacts our team members and guests," she told the outlet. "However, we believe this is the right decision because it will allow Bahama Breeze to focus on its highest performing restaurants and strengthen the brand’s overall performance."

The closure leaves just one Michigan Bahama Breeze, which is located at 19600 Haggerty Road in Livonia.
