Get ready for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) or your next writing venture with a program designed for all levels of writers. Program “So You Want to Write a Book – Learn the Craft” will be offered on Saturday, October 26 at 2 pm at the Troy Public Library. Published authors Elizabeth Heiter and Robbie Terman will help you create dynamic characters, develop a page-turning plot, as well as cover the basics.
On Saturday, November 2 at 2 pm, Troy Public Library presents “So You Want to Write a Book – Publishing Primer. Whether you are just getting started writing or have already completed a novel, it is never too early to start thinking about publishing. Explore publishing options, including traditional and self-publishing. Join published authors Elizabeth Heiter and Robbie Terman to learn about the submission process, writing a query, and more.

The National Novel Writing Month Challenge begins October 15 and runs November 1- 30. Writers of all levels are welcome to write a 50,000 word novel in one month – and earn prizes! Prizes will be awarded at word count milestones and a grand prize will be raffled off after November 30. To qualify for the prizes, create a NaNoWriMo account at nanowrimo.org, then sign up for the Troy Public LibraryNaNoWriMo Challenge online through our Programs Calendar.

Work on your NaNoWriMo novel or any other writing project on Saturday, November 16 at 10:30 am andSunday, November 24 at 1:30 pm. Join us in the Library’s Meeting Room for this write-in to work on your project, discuss writing roadblocks, or share what you have written. Starting and ending word counts will track our progress. Bring a pen and paper or laptop, and lots of encouragement for your fellow writers. Writers of all levels are welcome.
