Fire Causes Evacuation Of Troy Hotel

The Troy Fire Department reported that no injuries resulted from the blaze.

TROY, MI β€” A dumpster fire caused the temporary evacuation of a dozen guests at a Troy hotel on July 5. The fire occurred at about 8:30 p.m. at the Red Roof Inn at 2350 Rochester Court. No injuries were reported, according to the Troy Fire Department.

β€œThe only thing that burned was the trash inside the dumpster,” said Assistant Troy Fire Chief Chuck Riesterer.
The hotel was not involved in the fire, according to a report. Due to the size of the dumpster and the amount of burning debris, a large tow vehicle pulled the dumpster away from the building, emptied the dumpster and then secured it so firefighters could put out the fire, according to a report.
