Fire Damages Somerset Park Apartment
There were no injuries reported after a fire damaged a single apartment Monday afternoon.

An apartment at 1868 Kirts Blvd. was damaged Monday afternoon when a fire started in the balcony area of the apartment, according to a media release.
Units from Fire Stations , and arrived at the two-story multi-family apartment building to discover smoke and fire showing from the second floor balcony.
Firefighters entered the building and were able to extinguish the fire quickly before it extended to the roof and attic space above the balcony. The occupants of the apartment were not home at the time, and the fire was confined to the apartment, according to the media release.

Firefighters also simultaneously searched neighboring apartments, though all were either vacant or already evacuated at the time of the fire. A dog was found unharmed in a neighboring unit and was returned to its owner.
The Troy Fire Department has no further information about the incident at this time, according to Assistant Fire Chief Dave Roberts.
