Free Gun Locks Distributed By Troy Police
The Troy Police Department is distributing free gun locks to promote gun safety in the community.

TROY, MI — The Troy Police Department is joining with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office to promote gun safety this month by distributing free gun locks to residents. The department encourages residents to stop by the police department at 500 W. Big Beaver Road to pick up a free gun lock while supplies last.
Last week, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard announced the program “Properly securing weapons is critical in helping to prevent accidental shootings, suicide, and theft,” Bouchard said. “We strongly encourage residents to pick up a free trigger lock from any of our twelve Substations, or call for delivery.”
Delivery of free gun locks by Oakland County Sheriff deputies is only available in areas where the Sheriff’s Office patrols, and only if a patrol car is not on a call. Bouchard said residents should call the department’s non-emergency number, or stop by a participating substation to pick up their free gun lock.
