Lettuce Provide You 5 Things to Do Around Troy This Weekend

1. The volunteer vegetable garden at the Troy Historic Village is ready for harvest and it wants you to be there. This Saturday, from 12 noon to 4 p.m., you can pick a plate full of fresh greens and clean them right on-site. Add veggies, protein, and dressing from home, then enjoy a healthy picnic lunch in the Village. Greens, plates, plastic utensils, and napkins provided.  The Motion Picture Institute in Troy is hosting a family-friend benefit/fundraiser for dog lovers to support the documentary feature film The Dog Fighter. A portion of each ticket sale will go towards local dog adoption services. The fun starts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a free event of family fun including adoption, guest speakers, and face-painting. The film is being screened at 8 p.m., with a pre-glow at 7 p.m. and an afterglow scheduled. The AVANTI Festival Orchestra performs at First United Methodist Church in Birmingham on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra event includes Romanian Folk Dances by Bela Bartok, Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland, and much more. 4. Trinity Lutheran Church in Clawson hosts a special Vacation Bible School on Monday at 6 p.m. This weekend's trip focuses on Oslo, Norway. 5. It's a tween dream come true this Saturday at Freedom Hill (14900 Metropolitan Parkway, Sterling Heights). Eight hugely popular young television actors from today's television shows like Shake It Up, A.N.T. Farm, Austin & Ally, Wizards of Waverly Place, Victorious, Jessie and Good Luck Charlie will appear live on stage for the first time together.
