Local Teen Chosen to Conduct DSO Musicians

As part of the Avanti Summer Music Festival, one student has been chosen to conduct the Detroit Symphony Orchestra musicians in Handel's "Entrance of the Queen of Sheba".  Elsa Koran is a junior at Troy High School and plays violin in the Troy High Symphony Orchestra.  The conducting class at the Avanti workshop held a competition and Elsa was chosen to lead the world class musicians.

The Avanti Festival Concert is Friday, July 26, at 7:30PM at the First United Church of Birmingham. The concert will also feature the Avanti Solo Competition winner playing the Mendelssohn violin concerto and the Avanti Chorale.
