Man Apologizes for Drinking and Driving, Fleeing Accident; Counterfeit $50 Bills Used at Pharmacy

Teen pulls girl's hair while skating
A woman reported on April 13 that a teenage girl assaulted her 11-year-old daughter while she was skating at . The woman told police the teenager yanked her daughter to the ground by her hair, and that the altercation was over a boy, according to a police report.
Counterfeit $50 bills used at pharmacy
A representative from Unasource Pharmacy reported Monday afternoon that a customer had paid for a prescription using five counterfeit $50 bills. The customer told police he had received the bills from a check cashing store in Bloomfield Township and did not know they were fake, according to a police report. The bills were turned over to the Secret Service.

Man apologizes for drinking and driving, fleeing accident scene
Troy officers responded Tuesday afternoon for reports of a three-car accident near Long Lake and John R roads in which there were injuries. Witnesses reported seeing the at-fault driver flee the scene on foot, according to the report.
Troy officers located the man, a 32-year-old Rochester Hills resident, who smelled of intoxicants and had slurred speech, according to the report. The man, who has one previous conviction for operating while intoxicated, apologized to police for running from the scene and for drinking and driving, according to the report, and was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries. A blood test was administered; results were still pending.

One other driver was also transported to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
Thieves steal items from homes
- A homeowner on the 1000 block of Crestline reported Monday evening that someone had broken into his home and stolen a laptop computer, flat-screen television, jewelry and cash. The responding officer discovered damage to the lock on the front door, according to a police report.
- A homeowner on the 5000 block of Blair reported April 20 that a 30-pound ornamental rock engraved with "Michigan State University" had been stolen from his patio.
- A resident on the 2000 block of Somerset reported April 12 that someone had stolen his satellite TV dish from his yard.
- On April 20, a resident on the 2000 block of Somerset reported the catalytic converter had been cut off and stolen from her Pontiac Grand Am.
- A homeowner on the 6000 block of Fredmoor reported Saturday morning that someone had stolen three bottles of wine, a motorcycle helmet, goggles, gloves, a golf bag with clubs, golf balls and golf shoes from her open garage overnight.
Police respond to traffic altercation
Troy officers responded to the area of Rochester and Shallowdale roads Monday afternoon for reports of a traffic altercation between a 26-year-old Shelby Township woman and a 52-year-old Sterling Heights man. The matter was referred to the city attorney for review and possible charges.
