Man Drives Through Firefighters Park, Gets Stuck in the River

Miscellaneous

Firefighters Park, 1810 Square Lake Rd., Aug. 28, 9:57 p.m.:Β Troy officers were dispatched to a vehicle stuck in the river at the park. The suspect drove his vehicle β€œoff-roading” through the park and got stuck. The suspect called police to help him tow his vehicle out of the river. The suspect was issued a citation for reckless driving.Β 

Drugs/narcotics

East Big Beaver and Rochester Road, Aug. 30, 12:33 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle after failing to stop when entering roadway. The vehicle was occupied by five teenagers. The driver consented to officers searching the vehicle due to suspicion of controlled substances. The passenger, a 16-year-old from Sterling Heights was found to have a marijuana pipe in his pocket. In the trunk of the vehicle officers discovered a 6-pack of beer and a grinder for marijuana. The passenger was cited for possession of narcotic paraphernalia. The driver, a 16-year-old from Troy was cited for possession of narcotic paraphernalia and minor in possession of alcohol.Β 

Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs

Coolidge Highway and Fourteen Mile Road, Aug. 29, 10:50 p.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for failing to stop for a stop sign. The driver had an odor of alcohol coming from his person. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .13 percent.

Larcenies

Oakland Mall, 412 W. Fourteen Mile Rd., Aug. 28, 3:45 p.m.: Complainant advised he was in the American Fun Center in the Mall. Complainant said he had his Samsung phone charging on the counter when he notice a male grab his phone and run. The suspect fled the scene and was unable to be located. Complainant said the phone was valued at $500.Β 

Kroger, 1237 Coolidge Hwy., Aug. 28, 4:30 p.m.: Complainant advised while she was shopping in the store her wallet and iPhone were stolen from her purse located in the shopping cart. Complainant stated she had $190 cash, credit cards and passport in her wallet.

Larcenies from autos

1000 block of Hempstead, Aug. 28, 9:10 p.m.: Complainant advised her 1983 Pontiac Trans Am was parked in the street when she returned to the vehicle she discovered the β€œT-tops” to the vehicle were stolen. The tops were valued at $2,400.

Retail fraud

JCPenney, 700 W. Fourteen Mile Rd., Aug. 28, 2:57 p.m.: Loss prevention advised two suspects were observed selecting clothing and entering the fitting rooms. When the suspects exited, they were wearing the clothes they took into the fitting room. The suspects then left the store failing to pay for the merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspects and recovered the merchandise valued at $116. The suspects, both 17-year-olds from Oak Park and Ferndale were arrested for retail fraud.
