Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants Wins Top Award for Government Relations Program

The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) was recently honored with a Diamond Award at the 12thAnnual Michigan Society of Association Executives’ (MSAE) Diamond Awards Banquet. The event recognizes the best in associations across Michigan.  Forty-two entries competed for the top spots in 10 categories.

The MACPA received the award for the Local Governmental Summit on Efficiency Creation and Cost Savings initiative in the Government Relations category. At the request of Gov. Rick Snyder, the MACPA spearheaded the Lansing summit, which was designed to leverage the expertise of CPAs and other financial professionals to help civic leaders throughout Michigan tackle the challenges of collaboration and sharing services across government segments; and understand prioritization, operational and financial modeling, and related issues associated with the implementation of intergovernmental collaboration.

The February event brought together eight stakeholder organizations to provide educational programming, success stories, best practices and lessons learned from Michigan governmental units on the money-saving benefits of collaboration and shared services.
