MSP Troy Raid Nets 227 Marijuana Plants
Michigan State Police on Thursday raided three buildings in metro Detroit and made one arrest.

TROY, MI — The Michigan State Police seized 227 marijuana plants, 28 pounds of processed marijuana, drys and lighting equipment from an Austin Drive building in Troy Thursday. A Shelby Township man was arrested in connection with the raid, which also included a Commerce Township location.
The arrest and seizure of marijuana came as the result of a six-month state police investigation. Police seized more than 20,000 vape pens and oil cartridges, according to a Michigan State Police news release.
"The Investigation revealed that the suspect leased industrial buildings for the purpose of illegal marijuana grows and supplying the marijuana to various 'dispensaries' in the city of Detroit," the news release stated.

The raid of the Shelby Township suspect's home resulted also resulted in the seizure of $11,354, 49 marijuana plants, processed marijuana, a 2017 GMC Yukon and 90 boxes containing more than 20,000 vape pens and oil cartridges, the Detroit Free Press reported. State police believe the man tried to launder money from the grows at a Toledo, Ohio casino.

A WXYZ report indicated that the illegal Troy grow was done in a rented building. The sign on the outside of the building bears the name of a business that no longer is affiliated with this building, the television station reported.
