PHOTOS: A 'World of Exploration' at Hamilton Elementary School
Students spend Friday learning about different countries and cultures during the school's first-ever World Exploration Day.
On Friday, students at traveled around the world without ever leaving the school's media center during the school's first-ever World Exploration Day.
Organized by Hamilton parent Karen Krajewski, the event was loosely modeled after similar events at other area schools and is meant to educate students about life in other countries.
"My daughter went to , and they did something similar," Krajewski said, adding that Hamilton students represent at least 53 countries.

"I thought it'd be a good idea to showcase that," she said.
Parent volunteers staffed nine stations representing China, Japan, Guatemala, Korea, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and the Middle East. To help engage the students, each child received a "passport" containing questions, information and a place to draw the flag for each country.

"I love it," Kindergarten teacher Cheryl Rowley said as her class learned about Korea. "There are so many different ideas the kids are picking up."
Around the corner, parents Emiko and Kaz Shini waited patiently for the next group of children to stop by and learn about Japan.
"It's very exciting," Emiko said. "We get to see many different cultures."
