Restaurant Depot Employee Ripped Off Store: Police

Troy Police reports said the employee allegedly stole more than $400 worth of food.

TROY, MI — A 58-year-old Detroit man was recently arrested and charged with embezzling more than $400 worth of food from Restaurant Depot at 1304 E. Maple Road, according to a Troy Police report. The company’s regional director of operations reported the alleged theft to police on Sept. 27.

He told officers the Detroit man, a Restaurant Depot employee, was seen taking $447.02 worth of food from the store and placing it in his 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe. Reports said the 58-year-old was summoned to the manager’s office and denied taking the food.

Troy officers, however, found a garbage bag filled with food in the Tahoe. Reports said the Detroit man was then arrested.

Retail Fraud

A 42-year-old Harper Woods woman was recently arrested for Retail Fraud after allegedly stealing $995 worth of apparel items from Burberry at Somerset Mall. Police reports said the items were stolen from the store on Sept. 28 and the woman attempted to return them on Sept. 30.

Troy Police officers arrived at the store after being summoned by a store manager when she attempted to make the return. They interviewed the Harper Woods woman, who admitted to the theft, according to reports.

Officers arrested and charged her with Retail Fraud - Second Degree. Police released her at the scene, reports said.

Disorderly Conduct

A 25-year-old Sterling Heights man was arrested after getting rowdy at Skate World on E. Maple Road. Reports said the man fought with store employees and also cussed at security staff outside the store.
Troy officers asked the Sterling Heights man to calm down and stop swearing, but he wouldn’t.

He also refused to tell officers his name. Reports said he was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction of a police officer.
