Troy High Students Film Telenovelas to Learn Spanish
Spanish teacher Julie Tucker works with her students to create the short Spanish soap operas as a year-end project.
A Spanish teacher for 25 years, 's Julie Tucker enjoys encouraging her students' creative sides in order to help them pick up the language.
And for the second year in a row, Tucker's students will be showcasing their flair for the dramatic as they film several short telenovelas – the Spanish-speaking equivalent of a soap opera.
"They act out Mexican soap operas using all of the knowledge that they've gained thus far throughout the year in kind of a fun way," Tucker said.

Tucker, who films each skit, said she will edit all of the movies together for the classes to view and enjoy together before the year is over.
"It was fun because it was kind of like something different than just normal notes and stuff, so that was cool," Spanish student Ellen Donabedian said.

"She's fun," Spanish student Lindsay Brown said, "and she makes Spanish exciting."
