Spill Dumps Diesel Fuel Into Pond

A Children's Hospital generator leaked diesel fuel into a nearby pond. Clean up efforts have begun.

TROY, MI — Diesel fuel leaked into a Children’s Hospital detention pond Tuesday from a Detroit Medical Center generator. A hazardous materials team from the Troy Police Department responded at about 12:30 and quickly applied absorbent materials to the area around the generator, according to a C & G Newspapers report.

"According to a fire report, hospital staff quickly realized that the generator was leaking fuel and stopped the leak."
“At no time were patients ever at risk,” Troy Assistant Fire Chief Chuck Riesterer said.
