Teen Sues After Oakland Mall Dick’s Refuses To Sell Gun

18-year-old high school senior Triston Fulton is suing after being refused a gun at the Dick's outlet in Troy's Oakland Mall.

An 18-year-old high school senior refused when trying to buy a rifle at the Dick’s Sporting Goods in Troy is suing the chain over a new company policy barring anyone under 21 from buying a firearm. Dick’s announced the change after last month’s deadly Parkland school shooting which claimed 17 lives. Triston Fulton, 18, claims his right to buy a gun from a specific retailer is on par with the struggles of African Americans in the civil rights era.

"Stores should be able to violate people's civil rights? Are we going to stop allowing black people firearms? Are we going to stop allowing Mexicans to buy firearms? No,” Fulton’s attorney, James Makowski, told Channel 2.
