No Injuries Reported When Trailer Full of Paper Catches Fire in Troy

An excavator and a front-end loader were used to spread out the paper products, including paper towels, paper plates, and toilet paper so firefighters could extinguish the fire.

A vehicle fire on northbound I-75 near Maple Road in Troy did not cause injuries to anyone on the scene, according to a Troy Fire Department release issued Friday.

At 1:33 AM, Fire Station 1 was dispatched at 1:33 a.m. to find a semi-tractor trailer cab and the front of the attached trailer well loaded with loaded with paper products including paper towels, paper plates, and toilet paper on fire.

The driver had safely evacuated prior TFD's arrival. The cause of the fire was not released.

Firefighters immediately began extinguishing the fire but could not easily access the front of the trailer since the only access was at the rear of the trailer and it was packed with products. The fire grew in intensity and became deep-seated in the remainder of paper products inside involving the trailer itself.

Northbound I-75 was closed at 14 Mile Road as an excavator from the Troy Department of Public Works and a front-end loader from the Oakland County Road Commission were brought to the scene to remove the paper products and spread them out so firefighters could extinguish the fire.
