Firefighters in Troy used the jaws of life on two separate occasions this week to rescue three people in traffic accidents, officials said.

The first accident took place at Wattles Road, east of Rochester Road, on Sunday at about 5:30 p.m. Firefighters safely extracted two people from one vehicle which had rolled over by using the jaws of life, stabilizing jacks, and hydraulic cutters. They were transported to an area hospital.

The second accident took place on Long Lake Road at Investment Drive, on Monday at about 9:15 a.m. Firefighters used the same tools to safely extract one person, the passenger from a vehicle, an SUV, which had rolled over. That person was also transported to an area hospital.
