Troy Man Drives To Police Station, Gets Arrested For Drunk Driving: Cops
A Troy man was arrested last week on suspicion of drunk driving after he drove to the police station, according to police.
TROY, MI — A Troy man was arrested last week on suspicion of drunk driving after he drove to the police station, according to police.
The incident happened at 6: 10 p.m. on July 23 at the Troy police station on West Big Beaver Road, according to police.
Police said the 43-year-old Troy man stopped by the lobby to explain that he was there to drop off medication for his wife, who was in the police department's short-term lock-up facility.

While speaking with the man, officers noted that he was "unsteady on his feet and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person," according to police.
After learning the man drove to the police station, officers made him perform several sobriety tests, which he failed, according to police.

He then agreed to take a preliminary breath test, which came back with a result of .162 percent, twice the legal limit at 0.08 percent, according to police.
He was placed in the Troy Jail where subsequent chemical breath tests came back with results of .175 percent and .177 percent, according to police.
Police issued him a citation for operating while intoxicated.
