Man Charged in Troy Sports Center Thefts

Joseph Jason Dalessandro, 27, of Sterling Heights faces larceny charges after police said they saw him stealing items from locker room bags.

road patrol officers who were following up on an incident in which several members of a hockey team Saturday reported  at the were able to identify possible suspects in the larceny this week.

On Monday, officers initiated surveillance at the sports center and observed one of the suspects heading into the locker room, where officers then found him reaching into a sports bag, according to Troy Police.

The suspect admitted to having items in his pocket he had taken from another bag in the locker room. Officers arrested two suspects on charges of committing larceny in a building. Both gave statements implicating their involvement in Saturday's thefts, according to Troy Police.

Joseph Jason Dalessandro, 27, of Sterling Heights – the suspect who was observed reaching into the bag – was arraigned Wednesday at 52-4 District Court and charged with larceny in a building. Bond was set at $10,000.

The second suspect was released pending further investigation.
