Troy Police Make Arrests in Drunken Driving Incidents, Investigate Larcenies

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

  • Stephenson Highway and Sylvia, Oct. 12, 12:24 a.m.: Troy officer stopped a vehicle after observing it weaving. The driver had a pill bottle between his legs containing marijuana. The driver admitted to drinking and failed filed sobrieties. The driver, a 55-year-old form Hazel Park had two prior convictions for drunk driving. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated (third offense) and possession of marijuana. Breath test results were .16 percent. 
  • West 14 Mile Road and John R Road, Oct. 12, 12:32 a.m.: Troy officers were dispatched to an accident. The responsible driver was observed to have a strong odor of intoxicants coming from her person. The driver, a 29-year-old from Royal Oak failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .21 percent.
  • West 14 Mile Road and Stephenson, Oct. 13, 2:28 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for a prohibited u-turn. The vehicle had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from it. The driver admitted to drinking and had glassy bloodshot eyes. The driver, a 37-year-old from Detroit failed field sobrieties and had a previous conviction for drunk driving. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated (second offense) and driving while license suspended. Breath test results were .13 percent.
  • Rochester and Trombley, Oct. 13, 2:17 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle drifting over lane markers. The driver admitted to drinking and smelled of intoxicants. The driver, a 29-year-old from Shelby Township failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .14 percent.
  • Dequindre and East Long Lake Road, Oct. 13, 2:40 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. The driver, a 34-year-old from Shelby Township failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .09 percent.
  • East Big Beaver Road and Dequindre, Oct. 13, 3:38 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver had an odor of intoxicants coming from his person. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 50-year-old from Clinton Township was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .09 percent.
  • 850 Stephenson Highway, Oct. 13, 5:46 a.m.: Troy officers were dispatched to a drunk driver. Witnesses stated the vehicle was observed driving over the lawn and into the retention pond. The vehicle then drove out of the pond and was observed at a high rate of speed doing “doughnuts” in parking lots. The officers made contact with the driver who admitted to drinking. The driver, a 37-year-old from Troy failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license. Breath test results were .18 percent.
  • East Big Beaver Road and John R Road, Oct. 14, 12:35 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for a “fail to yield” violation. The driver did not have a driver’s license. The driver provided the officer with a passport and was observed with an odor of intoxicants coming from his person. The driver, a 35-year-old from Troy failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated and no license. Breath test results .09 percent.
  • Crooks and West Big Beaver Road, Oct. 14, 1:08 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for an improper lane change. The driver admitted to drinking and smelled of intoxicants. The driver, a 26-year-old from Waterford failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .12 percent.

Larcenies from autos

  • 5000 block of Houghten, Oct. 11-12, 10 p.m. to 9 a.m.: Complainant advised he left his wallet in his car overnight and when he returned he discovered his wallet missing. Inside the wallet were credit cards and bank account information.
  • 5000 block of Vineyards, Oct. 12, 12 midnight to 1 p.m.: Complainant advised his vehicle was parked in the driveway. When he returned he discovered his sunglasses, radar detector and watch missing. Complaint stated there was no damage to the vehicle.
  • Nature Center, 6685 Coolidge Hwy., Oct. 12, 5:28 p.m.: Two complainants reported their windows smashed on their vehicles. One complainant was missing her purse and the other complainant was missing his backpack. Both complainants stated their belongings were in the backseat.
  • Firefighters Park, 1810 W. Square Lake Rd., Oct. 12, 5:28 p.m.: Two complainants advised they were parked in the lot by the soccer fields, when they returned to their cars they both discovered the driver’s side window smashed out. Both complainants advised their purses were missing with credit cards and identification inside. Both complainants advise their purses were on the front passenger floorboards.
