Assaults, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and More Reported to Troy Police

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Assaults

Dairy Queen, 6017 Rochester Road, Aug. 3, 8:49 p.m.: Troy Officers responded to a complainant of an assault in progress. When Officers arrived they observed the victim with severe injuries to the face, ribs and right leg. The suspect, a 34-year-old from Troy admitted to beating up the victim, stating he believed the victim was having an affair with his wife. The victim was transported to the hospital for his injuries and the suspect was arrested for assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder.

Credit, check, identity theft, other fraud

100 block of Thurber, Jul. 31, 3 p.m.: Complainant advised she received a call from Sears Credit Card Co. asking her to rate their service. Complainant advised she did not have a Sears Credit Card and did not give anyone authorization to get one in her name. 

Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs

Interstate-75 and West Big Beaver, Aug. 3, 2:47 a.m.: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle after observing it weaving between two lanes. The driver, a 22-year-old from Shelby Township was observed with bloodshot glassy eyes. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver admitted to Officers she did not have a driver’s license. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, driver's license never acquired, and PBT refusal. Breath test results were .23 percent. The passenger in the vehicle, who was found to be intoxicated, exited the vehicle and Officers discovered a small baggie containing crack cocaine under where he was sitting. The passenger was arrested for possession of cocaine.

Kirts and Troy Center Drive, Aug. 3, 10:38 p.m.: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle after observing it fail to stop while entering roadway and speeding. The driver, a 43-year-old Newton, North Carolina resident had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his vehicle. The driver refused to take any sobriety tests or breath tests. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated. A search warrant for blood was obtained. A blood draw was conducted on the driver with results pending. 

East Big Beaver and Livernois, Aug. 4, 1:04 a.m.: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver, a 38-year-old from Sterling Heights had a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her car. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .11 percent.

East Big Beaver and Dequindre, Aug. 5, 12:24 a.m.: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver, a 23-year-old from Sterling Heights admitted to drinking and had an odor of alcohol emitting from the vehicle.  The driver failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results .15 percent. 

Larcenies from autos

Suburban Volvo, 1795 Maplelawn, Aug. 2, 2:05 p.m.: Complainant reported someone stole the headlights and grille from a 2013 Volvo S80 parked in the lot. The value of missing parts is $2,803.06.

700 block of Coachman, Aug. 4, 2:10 a.m. to 9:42 p.m.: Complainant reported he parked his vehicle in the lot overnight. When he returned he found the glove box open and his wallet missing. Complainant reported his wallet contained identification, social security card and $520 in cash. 

1000 block of Rollingwoods, Jul. 28-29, 12 a.m. to 12:01 p.m.: Resident reported her vehicle was parked in her driveway overnight and her vehicle was entered. Resident advised her iPod and watch were stolen. The value of items stolen is $5,900.

Retail fraud

Macy’s, 500 West Fourteen Mile Road, Aug. 2, 3:36 p.m.: Loss prevention advised two suspects were observed both selecting merchandise and concealing it in shopping bags. The suspects, 19 and 20-year-olds, both from Madison Heights, left the store without paying for the merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspects and recovered the merchandise. Total value of stolen merchandise $916.50. Both suspects were arrested for retail fraud.

Suspicious incidents 

2000 block of Camilla, Aug. 5, 2:13 a.m.: Troy Officers responded to a complainant of a possible attempted break-in. Resident reported she left her home to drop off her children at the her mother’s, however left one child home to sleep. Resident was called by her daughter while she was out advising her she heard someone in the home. When resident returned home she discovered her kitchen screen window bent and the window open. Resident advised the window was shut when she left. Resident stated nothing appeared to be missing in the home.

Weapons offenses

Troy Center and West Big Beaver, Aug. 4, 1:43 a.m.: Officer stopped a vehicle for tinted windows. The driver, a 24-year-old from Detroit had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. The driver advised the Officer he had a carrying concealed weapons permit and was armed. The driver was able to pass field sobrieties but was issued a ticket for carrying a concealed weapon with a blood alcohol content of .02 to .07 percent.
