Troy Transit Center Update and More on the Agenda

Here's what the Troy City Council will discuss at Monday's meeting.

Edited: Sunday, Oct. 6, 2:56 p.m., for clarity

Construction of the Troy Transit Center is nearly complete, weeks before its estimated completion time, according to a report from the city.

In a memo included on the Troy City Council's Monday meeting agenda, city officials said that necessary approvals from the city's Building Department, Fire Department and AMTRAK, as well as a lease agreement with AMTRAK, should all be completed by the original estimated date of Oct. 31.

According to the memo, AMTRAK will reimburse the city for all operation and maintenance cost for the facility and commons area. Meanwhile, a leave to appeal to the Michigan Supreme Court filed by the city remains pending following a May ruling by the Michigan Court of Appeals that the property on which the center is built belongs to developers Grand/Sakwa Properties LLC, not the city.
