Troy's Retired Feline Officer Badges Dies

TROY, MI —Badges, the first kitten selected for the Troy Police Department's Feline Unit, has lost her battle with Feline Leukemia. Officers announced on Facebook Tuesday afternoon that the cat has died.

Badges was cared for by Leuk's Landing Inc. for her two years of life. She was undergoing chemotherapy at the time of her death, the department said.

Badges first joined the force after a successful Twitter campaign by the department to reach 10,000 followers. It was then discovered that she was ill and would not be able to perform her duties.

Pawficcer Donut took her place and has served ever since.
