TROY, MI — A new Troy restaurant is getting solid reviews. Sapporo Sushi opened at 1913 E. Big Beaver Road about two months ago and features a wide array of sushi dishes, according to patrons. Three recent reviews on Yelp all gave the restaurant five out of five stars.

On May 25, a Sterling Heights reviewer shared similar thoughts. “My friends and I have been experimenting with new and different sushi restaurants, trying to find the best place in SE Michigan,” Alex A. wrote. “Let me tell you, this place deserves that 5/5 star rating. Service was better than average sushi joint. Atmosphere and service was amazing and friendly.”

Only one out of five reviews gave the restaurant less than five stars. On April 28, Molida K. of Sterling Heights gave Sapporo generally good marks, but one dish wasn’t quite up to her standards.

“I was pleased with the cajun volcano and sunflower rolls,” she wrote on Yelp. “However my husband ordered the eel tempura roll and I was not impressed with it. It was deep fried and mushy with literally just eel inside rice and nori. Other than that, we thought dinner was a hit.”
