More than 150 young women from 13 states recently took part in Women in Engineering (WIE) on the campus of Michigan Technological University. WIE is a highly competitive scholarship program and weeklong exploration of careers in engineering fields, including mechanical, computer, environmental, electrical, chemical, biomedical, civil, geological and materials.
Among the students were Carolyn Andonian and Maysam Seif of West Bloomfield.Â
The students also get a taste of college life by spending the week living in Michigan Tech's residence halls, eating in the dining halls, exploring campus, and meeting diverse peers.
