Corewell Health Children’s Receives $1.6 M in CMN Grants
Funds benefit pediatric health programs at Corewell Health Children's locations across Metro Detroit
Corewell Health Children’s pediatric programs recently received $1.6 million in grants from Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH). These grants will be used to enhance pediatric programs at Corewell Health Children’s locations for winter 2024. More than 60 programs received funding.
Since 1988, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has been a valued fundraising partner of the Corewell Health Foundation Southeast Michigan, raising donations totaling more than $90 million to help Corewell Health Children’s pioneer new health care solutions and access to the latest research and technology for our youngest patients. More than 200,000 local children are impacted annually by this funding.
“The success of the Corewell Health’s Children’s/CMN partnership relies upon the generosity of the entire community,” said Matthew Denenberg, M.D., chief, pediatrics, Corewell Health. “Individuals, corporate partners and hospital team members all contribute to provide our pediatric team the opportunity for ongoing advancement in medical care for our youngest patients. Together, we can give children exceptional care that positively impacts their lives.”

Corporate partners often reach out to their employees and customers through retail promotions, gathering donations one dollar at a time. Major CMNH corporate partners include Speedway, Costco, Walmart and Sam’s Club, Rite Aid, Ace Hardware, RE/MAX, Panda Express, Dairy Queen, and Marriott International. In addition, generous sponsors of the annual Feldman Automotive Children’s Miracle Celebrity Invitational raised $1.5 million to support programs at Corewell Health’s Children’s/CMNH and The Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation in 2024.
“We are grateful for the long-time partnership that has existed between Corewell Health Children’s and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” said Ryan Daly, president of the Corewell Health Foundation Southeast Michigan. “As the only CMNH partner in southeast Michigan, we are proud to be affiliated with this outstanding organization and are grateful to all of our retail partners and their customers who give so generously to help families in our community.”

Twice a year, Corewell Health pediatric nurses, physicians and clinical leaders from all eight Southeast Michigan hospitals (Dearborn, Farmington Hills, Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak, Trenton, Taylor, Troy and Wayne), as well as the Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital Care Center, Center for Exceptional Families and other outpatient sites, have the opportunity to request grants from Corewell Health Children’s/CMNH to support new or existing pediatric initiatives.
This season’s grants included funding for the pediatric social work program, pediatric epilepsy research support, Child Life therapist program, Corewell Health’s Teen Safe Driving initiative, more than 480 bike safety helmets for the annual Bike Day event and the purchase of neonatal intensive care unit equipment including ventilators and pediatric vision screeners.
The funds also support division-wide initiatives to grow pediatric behavioral health programs and create a parenting education program.
