Foundation Hosts Sample Camp Day for Young Adults with Cancer

The Cassie Hines Shoes Cancer Foundation, in partnership with Gilda’s Club Royal Oak, will help young adults with cancer by hosting “Sample Camp Day” Aug. 10 at the Walled Lake Outdoor Education Center, 3577 Sleeth Ct. in Commerce Township. 
 
This event, held from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., is designed for young adults ages 16-30 who have been diagnosed with cancer. Participants can come alone or bring a friend and enjoy a day of adventure and team building. The hope is that they will be encouraged to take a chance and travel further to attend out-of-state cancer camps. Representatives from those camps will attend, as will a panel of experienced campers.

Among other things, the Cassie Hines Shoes Cancer Foundation provides funds for travel expenses to camp. The Foundation was created to support young adults with cancer from the beginning of their battle to life beyond cancer.
